Introduction

Considering the topic I have chosen, it is only fair that I make a disclaimer in the beginning. I have no knowledge of dancing, but a few simple analogies between dancing and our walk with God prompted me to write this little book. One day, while exercise and listening to Steven Curtis Chapman's "Cinderella," I suddenly realized that the special joy of a daughter dancing with her father should be a part of my relationship with my Heavenly Father.

Within a few minutes of thought, my list of analogies was begun. More points of similarity began appearing until I decided that it would take a book to convey all of the insight I had received from that simple analogy. Although there is nothing particularly profound in this concept, it changes one's perspective and provides a few guidelines for how to enjoy the gift of God's presence in your life.

Dancing with our heavenly Father requires the patience to take several steps before tasting the joy of His complete and harmonious presence: step 1) hearing the invitation, step 2) taking His hand, step 3) stepping to the floor, step 4) listening for the music, step 5) conversing with Him, step 6) following His lead, and step 7) continuing to dance until the music stops. Step 6 will bring joy in life and step 7 ensures joy in everlasting life.
